The latest build of PRESS that was published to https://horvathsoftware.com today now has support for change password macro playback.  This means that when you generate a new password using the Randomize password menu option you can have PRESS launch the browser of your choosing for the website and perform the steps needed to update your password on that website!

We hope that you will try this new feature of PRESS the next time you need to update your login password for a website contained in your password vault.

Please let us know what you think of the Web Learner features that were added to PRESS and the Change Password feature from the main screen of PRESS.

Thank you!

Password Randomizer with Encrypted Storage System v2.3 (PRESS v2.3) can generate random passwords for your various website user accounts and store them in an AES 256 encrypted vault on your local hard drive.  The v2.3 release of this product supports autofill of your user name for most websites when the Internet Explorer browser option is selected or if you prefer you may select to launch your system default browser.  Autofill of user name is not supported with system default browser option selected.

The password randomizer allow for random password lengths and control of the characters selected in the random password.  Your password history is stored in the password vault file so when you generate a new password you can login with your previous password to change to the new password on your website.

PRESS v2.3 is a Windows PC desktop application that is compatible with Windows 7 or later.

Included in PRESS v2.3 is Website Learner feature that can learn a website's identifying information for the user name field so that more websites are supported by autofill feature.  Only login pages that display the user name on the login screen are currently supported.  For websites that use a popup or other control to access the user name field you may select noautofill which will launch the browser with website URL but not attempt to autofill the user name.

You may optionally download a password key file that will allow you to access your password vault without typing in your master password (after the first login to password vault using your master password).  This makes using PRESS v2.3 easier, but we recommend storing this password key file on a separate device such as a thumb drive not the drive where your vault file is stored to prevent access by unauthorized individuals.

PRESS v2.3 is fully accessible to visually impaired users that make use of a screen reader such as Microsoft Windows Narrator or Freedom Scientific JAWS.  In addition to being accessible with screen readers.  There is a password magnifier feature that gives assistance in typing in passwords for websites that do not allow pasting passwords from clipboard.  The password magnifier feature works with US English keyboard layout, but may not work properly with international keyboard layouts.  We may work further on this feature should enough international users show interest.

PRESS v2.3 allows export of passwords to a Microsoft Excel CSV file.  This export file may be used to switch to another password manager should you decide that you prefer it over PRESS.  You may also import passwords using a Microsoft Excel CSV file that is formatted the same way as the export file from PRESS.  This will allow you to switch from a different password manager to PRESS or allow you to create clear text backups of PRESS that you may restore your password vault from should something go wrong (like forgetting your master password).  We recommend encrypting the export file should you decide to keep it stored on your file system (suggest using a program such as WinZip with encryption).

Benefits of PRESS v2.3:

  1. Only one password to remember!
  2. Strong passwords generated and stored in secure vault locally.
  3. Quick and easy login to websites with browser launch and autofill of user name.
  4. Password aging to remind you when it is time to update your passwords.
  5. Filter and sort your passwords to make it easy to find any of your website's URLs and your personal account information.
  6. Fully accessible to vision impaired users.
  7. It is free to download and use!
